I often do a lot of my coaching ‘one the hoof’ or walking and talking.  I find this works particularly well with creative thinkers.  Coaching is about many things, one of the most important is listening on a deep level.  One of the best ways I find in listening is also listening with your body - matching step, breathing, arm movement - this can give a great insight into how the other person is feeling, where their tensions are, how relaxed they are - and if you really pay attention - what they are thinking.

So the next time you are out for a walk with someone you are curious about - step into their world and walk with them in their shoes.
